Description

Fjällräven Greenland Wax

Aktivitet: Impregnering
Size: One size 100 gr
Material: paraffine and bee wax

With Greenland Wax you can adapt your G-1000 garment to different weather conditions and activities at home or out in the field.
With more wax the garment increases its water, and wind repellency. It also improves the durability and lifetime of the garment.
With less wax the garment is cooler and offers maximum breathability. Wash your garment in 40 C° to remove wax.

1. Take a scoop of Greenland Wax and rub a thin, even layer on the fabric. Add an extra layer of wax on the shoulders, knees and other exposed areas. Apply the wax generously.

2. Melt the wax into the fibres using a hairdryer or an old iron (remember to wipe off the iron before you use it for other clothing).

Out in the field, hold the garment a few decimetres above a steady, strong flame from your outdoor stove. Slowly move it closer to the flame until you see the wax start to melt. Be careful that you do not burn your garment, and do not have your hand or an arm in the garment when melting the wax. Simply stretch out the garment and move it back and forth until the wax has melted into the fabric. Do you want to see how it is done? Check out our instructional video!

Waxing and the weather

By varying the amount of wax you add, you can maximise your G-1000 garment's functionality based on the weather and your activity. For example:

  • Trekking without a backpack. Reinforce the seams with wax to make the jacket more water resistant and more durable.
  • Trekking with a backpack. Wax the front of the jacket. Your body heat will be released from the back of the jacket while the front will keep out the wind and rain.
  • Trekking in warm climates. Wash the garment in a washing machine at 40 degrees Celsius. Your garment will be cool and comfortable and offer maximum breathability.
